CHICAGO PD's Dante Torres actor Benjamin Levy Aguilar has broken the silence surrounding his character's fate.
Chicago PD's rookie officer Dante Torres has been missing from the show ever since its Season 10 finale.
The character was nowhere to be seen during the Season 11 premiere, either.
His final appearance was in Season 10, Episode 21, where the Intelligence Unit spent time investigating the character's old gang leader.
Given how long it had been since he had been on air, this was concerning for Chicago PD followers.
Fans have been wondering whether Dante will ever resurface on the show again.
He only had a minute amount of time on the series thus far, but ended up becoming a major viewer favorite.
Luckily, Benjamin seems to have given viewers the answer they were looking for.
He shared a photo of himself in character was Torres to his personal Instagram profile with good news for followers.
"Torres back Ep 4 - Feb 7 @NBC," he wrote simply.
This confirmation that Torres would indeed be returning had fans beside themselves with excitement.
"Been waiting!!" wrote one.
"You have been missed," added another.
"Thank GOD," another relieved fan posted.
"Can’t wait to see you back!! I’m sure you’ll kill it," a fourth commented.
The cacophony of "can't wait" comments and "we've missed you" sentiments flooded the Instagram post, which was comprised of several photos of Benjamin as Torres.
Chicago P.D. fans got vocal about the show having killed off one of its characters in a recent episode.
During the Season 11 premiere, it was revealed that a fan-favorite, Officer Adam Ruzek, survived after being shot last season, but then the show killed off a different character in episode 2.
Another new episode of NBC's Chicago P.D. aired on Wednesday, and it saw Ruzek, played by Patrick John Flueger, struggling with his time off from the job as he continued to recover from his gunshot injury.
As he awaited news on whether or not he passed all the tests that would allow him back on the team, he still decided to involve himself in a dangerous case.
While Ruzek put himself at risk by diving into the case, it was his confidential informant, Zaco (played by Carter Shimp), who ended up paying the price.
Zaco was recruited to go undercover to help get information on a robbery-homicide at an illegal poker game.
Unfortunately, he’s discovered, and the suspect, Arben, shoots Zaco.
Ruzek was there in time to help get his CI in an ambulance, where the medic assured them both that the gunshot wasn’t too bad and Zaco would be fine.
But just a few moments later, a doctor at the hospital told Ruzek and Zaco’s sister that the CI died on the table due to complications in the surgery.
Fans blasted the show’s decision to kill off this guest-starring character and called out the writers for often having the Criminal informants die.
“For once in the writer’s room - the writers could have let the person who helped solved the case survived,” one upset fan blasted on social media.
“Was it necessary for Zaco to die? #ChicagoPD why?,” the online user added.
“Okay, I'm tired of the bad, predictable writing,” a second angry viewer tweeted. “Ruzek was shot way worse than Zaco, yet Ruzek is fine and Zaco is dead.”
“Come on guys. Change it up once in awhile. Just ONCE, let the non-regular survive. They're not ‘red shirts’ on Star Trek.”
“I told you all the CI’s die,” a third annoyed fan wrote.
“WHAT?! Zaco didn’t make it?! He was FINE a second ago!,” another X, formerly Twitter, user blasted.
Other fans said they were crying over the loss of Zaco and predicted Ruzek will now blame himself for his CI’s death.
Chicago P.D., which is currently in Season 11, airs new episodes on NBC on Wednesdays at 10pm.
