Dead by Daylight is the most popular asymmetrical horror game out there right now, and lots of fans play on multiple platforms, resulting in questions of whether the game has cross-progression. If you have an Xbox and a Switch, for example, you might be wondering if you can transfer your progress between them.

We'll answer that pressing question in our article so you can determine whether you can transfer your progress from one of your devices to another. Let's talk about Dead by Daylight's cross-progression, how it works, and on which platforms it functions.

Does Dead By Daylight Have Cross-Progression?

The answer to whether Dead by Daylight has cross-progression is not a simple yes or no.

Yes, the game does have cross-progression, but only between two platforms - Epic Games and Steam.

The game once featured cross-progression on Stadia; however, Google announced that Stadia will be shutting down, meaning that Dead by Daylight will no longer have this cross-progression once Stadia's service ends.

Developers have mentioned in a previous Q&A session that they would like to add cross-progression to more platforms, but a number of struggles hold Behaviour back.

"[Cross-progression] is still something we really want to do," Justin, Dead by Daylight's Product Manager, explained.

"A lot of us have Switches, PS4, PS5, and Xbox. We’d love to be able to play on all of them. It’s just not something that we can promise because it’s not solely our decision."

Cross-Progression Platforms

Dead by Daylight is available on the following platforms:

  • Microsoft Windows
  • PlayStation 4
  • Xbox One
  • Nintendo Switch
  • Android
  • iOS
  • Stadia
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S

As we mentioned, cross-progression is currently only available between Stadia and Steam.

If you're looking to transfer progress from Xbox to PC or from Playstation to PC, you won't be able to do so at this time.

DBD Switch Cross-Progression

The developers planned to add Switch cross-progression, too, but released an announcement in 2021 explaining their struggles.

"Due to technical aspects beyond our control, transferring DLC between all platforms has not been possible, significantly impacting that experience," said developer DeathByGiggles.

"As a result, while we remain dedicated to doing everything we can to resolve the issue, we can no longer provide a clear ETA on when cross-progression will be available on Switch."

How Does Cross-Progression Work?

To enable cross-progression between Steam and Stadia, you'll first need to link your account to BHVR.

  • Go to the Dead by Daylight official website
  • Create an account or log in by clicking in the upper right-hand corner
  • Connect your Steam and Stadia accounts

After linking your accounts, you'll be able to access all of your DLC on both platforms - but your Auric Cells won't transfer over.

That's all we know right now about whether Dead by Daylight has cross-progression between platforms. Be sure to check back here for more updates regularly as the story develops and as cross-progression is added to more platforms.
